I was celebrating our victory over the VC when I read my clues for today:
Russian ICMB’s now 60% complete, Dr. Svetlana confirms.
Where Alexander goes, Sergey is sure to follow.
If this is to be believed, we are in some serious trouble. This confirms that the Russians are producing nukes, and that the clue we received from Umi about them targeting European cities might not be that much of a lie after all. Seeing this, BoD's plan comes firmly into focus.
Get us to help him kill the Americans. With the amount of time it will take for that to happen, he'll be able to build the nukes. After that, push the button, and GG. Russians win.
I may be over-reacting on this, but the clues (usually) do not lie.
However, just thinking about it, the first clue could be a fake designed by Sky to attempt to motivate us to save/help the Americans. But this clue is of the right caliber to be an Umi-clue.
Really, if BoD is the only one that has to die for the nukes to be stopped, just lynch him, right?

or it means sky figured the first clue was too wordy.
ReplyDeleteWalter what time did you receive the clues? One thing that seemed odd last time was how late i got the clues. This time they were delivered to me at the usual timeframe as to when the post was posted.
Clues have been sent to walter and to stage. here they are below
Marianne finally steps up to protect Sabina
Vassili has found Jack.
I got them as soon as I checked the forum this morning. I guess Jack's dead as soon as the day changes.
ReplyDeleteI just spoke with Umi. From what it sounds like, if nukes fall, it's game over for everyone, not just the Americans and us. I don't know if BoD realizes this or not. :v Gah, I wish Stage would comment ^^;
Marianne is protecting Sabina, who is instrumental in bringing down the Berlin Wall. I don't know what will happen after this occurs, but I'm willing to wager that it's probably going to change the game considerably. I don't know if all the citizens of here/there will combine together to form a new faction or what...
ReplyDeletei certainly got the feeling that Marianne was the US medic who is finally active.
ReplyDeleteI had to work late. >_o
ReplyDeleteWorking tomorrow too. People keep calling off and it's really sticking it to me.
Russians have been investing heavily in weapons tech for this game, so the idea of them having this is not bunk, the question is whether they plan to use it against us.
If it's only 60% capacity, that could explain why only a medic option was available this round for tech (I will post shortly on this).
So the weapons clue does not necessarily mean the Russians plan to use it against us, only that they have it.
Now then, I would advise both reporters to compare timestamps from when they both received their clues; this will allow us to snuff out any propaganda that Sky may have infiltrated. As NPR suggested, Sky may have figured how to make his propaganda more passable.
"Marianne finally steps up to protect Sabina" is another likely fraud clue. The "finally" part sounds a bit Sky-ish.
Hmm, but then NPR's clues were posted on time, adding credibility. And the upgrade for tech this cycle was offensive, which has been strictly what russians have been sticking to.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is a propaganda upgrade? Umi sends a false clue written Umi-sounding this time. It would explain why only one tech was listed this cycle -- propaganda is useless for EU to purchase, we can make our own. He may also be able to receive more of our clues and know everything we know. :v
It makes sense though, the last hope Americans have of survival is dividing EU, ME, and Russia. Get us so paranoid with each other that we leave America alone and go after each other. It's a brilliant last ditch strategy for a team with no hitting power, don't you think?
Umi seems incredibly confident that the nukes DO exist and that they are bad news for everyone, including ourselves...
ReplyDeleteSky COULD have posted a fake clue about Marianne protecting Sabina, if only because he obtained her name from today's narrative. I'm still thinking that the medic is AFK and Umi only posted her name associated with Septim in order to make her name public so Sky could play.
From what BoD was saying, he plans to vote with Sky and the Americans against Link of all people, because they still believe that Link is a threat :v I'm thinking that BoD is missing the point by doing this. The fall of the Berlin Wall seems to portend something far more foreboding, at least for the Russians.
BoD did have a point: There's no reason it wouldn't be GG by now if there wasn't something else working in the background. I think after the wall falls, another faction will pop based on the remaining citizenry of East/West Berlin. Whether or not they will be for us or against us is anyone's guess; however, I wonder if our win conditions will change if they join us?
according to the time stamps i got the clues at 8:19 AM and the narrative went up at 07:53 AM. THis is the normal amount of time between the narrative and the clue
ReplyDeleteWhen i got the first ICBM clue the narrative was up hours before i got the clue. To the point that i was wondering if we were going to get any clues at all.
I find it odd that Umi confirms the ICBM thing... perhaps it's a unintended side effect of the USSR researching weapon tech.
ReplyDeleteOr a apart of the propaganda. Who can say. It would be interesting to know when Walt received his clues. :v
ReplyDeleteI think this new mine technology fits more with the Russian tech upgrades. And if the mine tech can indeed be used as a sort of offensive medic skill on our players and we can keep major alive, than if the ICBM thing isn't bunk, we should be able to purchase them too and have the power of MUTUAL ASSURED DESTRUCTION, zomg.
Ok. According to my time stamps, the narrative for Day 7 was posted at 5:53AM, and I received my clues at 6:18AM. That seems like a reasonable amount of time to me; however, something to keep in mind is that Sky is usually on at the same time as Umi, so it wouldn't take him long to cook up a plan based on the narrative name revelations.
ReplyDeleteI agree that MP and our one hitter deserve proximity mines. I don't think I really do, unless we have them to spare. Maybe shuffle them back and forth?
yeah that sounds like a normal time from naritive posting to clue reception.
ReplyDeleteEither the USSR is intentionally working on the ICBM tech or is a unintended side effect of researching weapon upgrades.
Killing BoD seems like a sure way to stop this but will certainly bring the USSR down on us. Might be an acceptable risk and we could explain publicly why we hit him to limit the hate to the USSR.
If we go down this road we should take out the sniper as well since i bet he's not affected by prox mines.
Well, hitting BoD is impossible, because he's the scientist. So the only possible way to do it would be to work with the Americans and have him lynched. I would agree that proximity mines won't have any effect on CAB. I'd really like to hope that BoD is telling the truth, but in all likelihood he probably isn't. We might want to make contact with Sabina or illicit a response from her PC to see what if anything will happen when the wall comes down. If they are going to be joining/working with us, then that would be something good to know beforehand.
ReplyDeleteah i forgot the sci's couldn't be killed...
